Conor has obtained numerous sports qualifications and certificates in both coaching and fitness in addition to his Bachelor’s Degree from Dublin Institute of Technology. Originally from Ireland, Conor has spent much of the last 20 years in Asia, where he has taught in various international schools in Singapore, Thailand and China.
As someone who is passionate about sports and fitness, Conor’s number one goal is to develop a life long love of exercise and sports in his students, regardless of ability. He likes the sense of achievement students feel when they have mastered a new skill, especially if they feel it's something they previously thought was beyond them.
Conor has spent the last 6 years living in Hangzhou and was drawn to BSB Shunyi by their well established history of competing in inter-school sports competitions against schools from Beijing and indeed, around China. His main role as Director of PE will be to organise and co-ordinate sports teams across the whole school in addition to working as part of the PE team.
Conor enjoys playing various sports. His main love is football and he is a long-time Liverpool fan. He said that playing team sports in general gives one a great sense of camaraderie and belonging. It teaches one how to work together. As football has various distinct roles, it shows that different skill sets are needed to work together in order to achieve success as a team. Away from sports he enjoys travelling and has visited over 50 countries.
