The BSB Model United Nations (MUN) Team was honoured to attend the BEIMUN 32nd Model United Nations conference held on 10th-12th January, 2025. With delegates from all over the world – Singapore, Korea, Egypt, Mongolia, Jordan – this conference was definitely a lesson in international relations.

The four BSB students – Year 10 Jiyoo and Year 12 Franzi, Maya and Wendy participated in all different level of committees - from first time conferences in General Assembly to the Historic Security Council and to leading a committee as a chair, BSB truly immersed itself in all aspects of BEIMUN.

All delegates related in some way to the conference theme of “The Cost of Progress: Looking Into Pandora’s Box’’ with BSB students working to create long-term solutions in the form of resolutions that balanced the need for advancement whilst understanding the consequences of their actions on the world. For some BSB students this was their first introduction to the bustling world that is an MUN conference:

'' It was my first ever MUN and it was exciting and nerve-wracking, but it became a chance of learning and making life-long friends. I went from not wanting to speak to actively engaging in speeches’’ - Year 12 Franzi

Whether new or old, every student expanded their knowledge of diplomacy and showcased their dedication to MUN with how prepared they were with many delegates coming with pages upon pages of background information. Delegates performed dramatic speeches on the Hungarian revolution, proposed thoughtful amendments on space resources and kept decorum in bustling committees.

"As a chair, being able to inspire collaboration between delegates is the best part of the role." - Year 12 Wendy (Photo below)

But aside from excellent diplomatic knowledge, delegates from BSB also made friends from around the globe and formed bonds with other keen MUN-ers! BEIMUN 32 was an amazing experience with many exciting activities such as a social dinner, a lion dance performance and a speech from the ambassador of Jamaica in China!

The BSB Model United Nations club would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the secretariat team of BEIMUN, Mr. Cusack and Mr. Peebles for making this possible and for making it such an amazing learning experience for all BSB delegates. We are looking forward to BSB participating in future conferences.
