Our Play-In-A-Week ensures every single student has the opportunity to experience the excitement and joy that comes from participating in musical theatre and our stars truly shone!
Year 4 wowed and delighted their audience with a wizard performance of “Wiz Wham Alakazam”. Their proud grins and clear voices evidenced the confidence each child had gained on their journey to save the sun. From learning lines, to painting sets, crafting props and remembering stage directions, the children showed their creativity, overcame their inhibitions and pulled together to put on a magical show – all this in a week!
The students showed their true resilience and flexibility as volunteers stepped up to support their peers, filling in during absences, learning new lines and helping classmates on their return. The theme of working together and supporting each other clearly extended well beyond the stage.
For the first time students had the opportunity to choose the type of role they would like in their production, from lighting and backstage technicians, to singers, dancers, gymnasts and even icy monsters! For those wanting lead and supporting roles, they were invited to audition.
This is another great example how our collaboration with The Juilliard School combined with our outstanding dance, drama, and music programmes inspires students’ creativity, teamwork and resilience in our everyday lessons.
