What is the “Global Perspectives” course?
Global Perspectives is a unique learning experience where instead of learning subject content, students focus entirely on developing academic and thinking skills, such as critical thinking, research and evaluative skills. This is achieved by considering case studies, data, articles and scenarios linked to substantive and important issues of global significance. The course is formally assessed, and students receive an internationally recognised qualification at the end of the course.
Let’s take a peek inside at our Year 10 IGCSE students’ Global Perspectives lessons and see how they develop these important transferable skills that will be useful in higher education and as active citizens of the future.
Contestable Concepts
For the last few weeks, Year 10 students have been critically comparing and contrasting contestable concepts in their Global Perspectives lessons. The students approached relevant topics, such as faith, belief and superstitions, and worked on creating operational definitions in order to better understand the difference between "knowledge & theory".
Knowledge & Theory
The screening of these videos was a great opportunity for the students to collaborate even further and share their ideas and perspectives about some of the most relevant topics that the entire world is thinking of today.
