Pearson/Edexcel Education and Cambridge Assessment International Education have announced this year’s winners of the Outstanding Learner Awards in China, and 3 students from The British School of Beijing (BSB), Shunyi have been named for their exceptional academic performance in the May 2019 Examination session.
The Outstanding Student Awards programme celebrates the success of students taking IGCSE exams in over 40 countries worldwide.
Jenny explained what she felt were the reasons for her success:
“Having a real passion for the subject is vital and commitment to never settling for anything less than your best. Drawing on influences around you is also key. Ms Bramley was fantastic at creating a calm, nurturing environment that brought out the very best in me.”
Mr Richard Thornhill, Principal of The British School of Beijing, said:
“I am absolutely delighted for Alexander, Jenny and Nicolas who achieved some of the highest examination results in IGCSE Music, Art and First Language German within China. Their high academic achievements are the result of hard work, dedicated support from home and the expert help of their teachers. This year our IGCSE results reflect our aspiration and determination for outstanding student success. This is shared by all in the BSB community and I am exceptionally proud of all our students and our staff here at The British School of Beijing.”
Rob Khan, Head of Secondary, said:
“We are really pleased with our students receiving the Top Awards, these highlight how well our students perform. Bearing in mind the 100’s of schools in China that do the Cambridge and Edexcel examinations and the limited number of awards available, for BSB students to pick up three, is truly remarkable. These awards reflect Teachers' hard work, parents' engagement and students' commitment to achieve, when combined, produce the outstanding results we get year after year.”
