Pelicans have been learning all about life in the Shang Dynasty this term.
On Friday, Pelicans celebrated their learning in their class assembly. They informed BSB about the key historical events within the dynasty including the legendry Battle of Mingtiao, Cheng Tang’s promises to his kingdom, the great warrior, Lady Fu Hao, and her religious practices. Pelicans also discovered that Shang Society had a social hierarchy with the King at the top and slaves as the lowest form of citizens. Pelicans discovered some amazing facts. Did you know that slaves were buried with their masters? Pelicans also adapted the lyrics to Village People’s famous 1978 disco classic, YMCA, to fit in with life during Shang Dynasty.
Pelicans have also been learning about other time periods within Ancient China and made their own Terracotta Warriors out of clay. We went to Li Building to design and construct the Terracotta Warriors. We plan to paint them next week.
