Join Our Open Morning
This week, the children in Reception have continued their learning around the topic of castles. Through the different areas of the curriculum, we have taken part in a range of castle themed activities. During our Topic lessons, we have been learning about who lives in a castle and naming the different parts of a castle. Some of the new vocabulary we have learnt includes: tower, parapet, battlements, drawbridge, turrets and moat. In our creative area, the children have been busy making their own castles using the junk modelling materials, thinking about how they can assemble them using different tools and techniques.
As part of our spontaneous learning, the children have loved building their own sandcastles and castles in the construction area using the new vocabulary that they have learnt to describe them.
The highlight of our week was our Celebration Ball where we all came to school dressed in our finest clothes. The children were given the opportunity to dance with a partner using some ballroom dance moves we have been practising in class. This was a very special way to end such a brilliant theme of learning!
