U9s were first up with Mr Magson coaching them to victory. The boys and girls teams brought home the gold medal, winning the tournament outright. Both teams played consistently well, attacking and defending as a unit; making it very difficult for the opposition teams to break through.
Next up was the U11s tournament. The U11’s were going into the tournament with a very positive and energetic attitude, spared on by the success of the U9s. First up was the BSB boys V CISB boys. Our starting lineup was Taylor as (GK), Rocky, Marco, Tanner, Ryan and Hamza. The boys got stuck-in right from the word go, with Marco smashing the ball into the goal within seconds from the starting whistle. The boys collaborated well, attacking every ball, distributing it left and right and used every inch of space available. Their tenacity was rewarded with a 6-1 victory. The boys continued to shine throughout the competition, holding a very tight defensive line. Tanner and Rocky fired shots with great power, accuracy and strength into the net, leaving it impossible for the opponents goalkeeper to make a save. The boys played 4 games in total, winning 3 and drawing 1.
Now it was the girls U11s time to shine. Both BSB girls and BCIS girls were very determined to try and score the first goal. Keira fed the ball to Aimee Hall, who planted one foot in front of the other and took a powerful shot, firing the ball into the bottom right hand corner. We then conceded a goal but the girls came back fighting, scoring another. The game ended 2-1 to BSB. The girls were on high spirits after winning their first game and proceeded to go onto win another 3 matches, drawing 1. The girls applied themselves very well during each game, communicating, creating space and making the right decisions. All their hard work and enthusiasm during PE lessons definitely was reflected in their performances on the day.
We look forward to the Shunyi handball tournaments after Christmas. Mr Magson and I will continue coaching the students throughout PE lessons to prepare them for, what we hope, will be another successful day.
