We were privileged to host and offer a warm welcome to Mr Richard Hyde, British Consul General on campus this week.
Our special guest shared insights on 'Being a Global Citizen' at our Secondary Assembly.
Mr Hyde also awarded Year 8 Carolina a prize for winning the Platinum Jubilee 'Queen Elizabeth II portrait' contest. Our Year 7 cohort created works of art depicting Her Majesty at different periods of her reign. The pieces were displayed in Houston, Texas, at a Jubilee Celebration hosted by Her Majesty’s Consul General of Texas, Mr. Richard Hyde, earlier this summer. BIS Houston student Carolina's winning portrait, along with the 24 other finalists, have been taken to Washington DC to be displayed at the British Consulate in DC! The project was led by our Art and Design teacher Mrs. Audrey Mclean.
Student Leaders Sana, Harish, Dylan & Elle also had the opportunity for a round table with Mr Hyde on the topic of leadership; while our Global Justice League students shared their global citizenship vision with Mr Hyde.
On behalf of BIS Houston our Student Head of School, Sana and Harish, exended a warm appreciation to Mr Hyde: “Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit our school community, we appreciate all of your insight and valuable feedback!”.
We look forward to welcoming Mr Hyde to BIS Houston again - it was a honor and a privilege to host the British Consul General.
