Congratulations Year 12 students Alexis, Kyra, Poppy & Freya who have completed their Lumiere Education, a world-class research program for ambitious and innovative students around the world. Founded by Harvard and Oxford researchers, the Lumiere Research Scholar Programme offers students the opportunity to work 1:1 with a PhD mentor to learn about the cutting edge in their field of interest and produce an independently developed research project. Our students have access to mentors from the most globally competitive institutions.
What did it take for our achievers to be accepted?
Academically rigorous.
Curious thinkers who ask big questions.
Passionate learners putting dozens of hours of independent work.
Ambitious leaders hungry to be challenged.
Every day, we read about research that changes our lives from studies on vaccines, to new computational algorithms, to studies of new ways to do business. Each of these breakthroughs come from researchers working to advance their field. Our students have chosen a range of projects, with a goal to extend their knowledge in their chosen area, become experts by both learning the advances before them and contributing to current knowledge.
Kyra's research paper is on oncolytic adenoviral therapy.
Alexis's has chosen: How is psychopathic trait development affected by the interaction of a child’s genetic makeup with SES-related parenting styles?
Poppy will hypothesise that children diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and harbouring the Philadelphia chromosome fusion will present with worse treatment efficacy and a prolonged treatment timeline compared to patients without the chromosome fusion.
And Freya's paper will focus on cancer research.
Our students have create and completed their research projects that will showcase their strengths and abilities, that will help every stage of their lives, whether applying to colleges or their future chosen careers.
Scholars from the Lumiere Programme go on to join the world's best universities, start non-profits and represent their countries in global competitions.
There are no limits to what our students will achieve - a generation living their learning and changing our world for the better.
