Hello, my name is Maia, and I am in Year 12. For my CAS Project I am organising a Growth Mindset Mentoring Program.
The aim of this program is to support Year 6 students to learn about Growth Mindset and the ways in which developing one can help them be successful in school and life. The Year 12 student mentors (supported by Student Support Services staff) will be utilizing a program put together by Big Life Journal (for more information please visit www.biglifejournal.com). This program is specifically developed for students aged 10 – 12 and has been modified and enhanced (with the assistance of teaching staff) to best suit the BIS Houston Year 6 student group. Mentors and mentees will be mostly working one-on-one in the Agora, however there will be a couple of whole group activities. The sessions will be a mix of games, discussion and art activities that aim to support students to become more confident, persistent, optimistic and resilient. I have been trialling the program with a Year 6 student for the past five weeks and we have both very-much enjoyed the sessions and learned a lot!
It’s great to see an impressive initiative from Year 12 student Maia at BIS Houston called the 'Growth Mindset Mentoring Programme' in support of younger students’ personal and academic development. Way to go Maia!
