It's the summer holidays!
Our wonderful IB Diploma Visual Arts students finished their 2-year course by transforming our brand new Secondary Campus building into their very own art exhibition.
Using the new classrooms as their blank canvas, they created a stunning showcase of IB Diploma Visual Arts pieces, each student curating their portfolio to share their paintings, photographs, sculptures and graphic illustrations.
The IB Diploma Programme is a deeply involved journey for all of our students. The thoughts and passions expressed by our Visual Arts students in this exhibition, both for their art and for the world we live in, once again illustrates their dedication and also their capacity for caring about those around them. It is a reminder that art is about much more than visual appeal.
Head of Art at the British International School HCMC, Janet Williams says; "For ten dedicated and talented young people this small sample of their work for the IB Visual Arts Diploma represents the culmination of 18 months of hard graft and creative discovery.
To my IBVA Art warriors; I congratulate and applaud every one of you. I am so very proud of you all. You faced challenges with determination and made little compromise to your artistic endeavors in the face of adversity. I wish you every success for the future and a huge amount of happiness."
Please take a look at some photographs from the exhibition to get a taste of the incredible work showcased by our Class of 2020 young artists:
At BIS HCMC we deliver in school a comprehensive wellbeing curriculum to provide our students with the tools, resources and support to balance their social, physical, emotional and mental health. As part of this, we also look at preventative measures to ensure the safety of our students beyond BIS and equip them with knowledge and skills for both today and their future success in the wider world.
This term we were extremely fortunate to welcome back into school experts from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City’s Regional Security Office (RSO) to discuss more on the topic of drugs and substance abuse with some of our students and parents.
