Achieving success in IGCSEs

We are proud to announce the achievements of nine BIS HCMC students who have been recognised with the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards 2024. These prestigious awards celebrate the highest performers in Cambridge IGCSE exams across a wide range of subjects. This year, BIS HCMC students have excelled in Mathematics, Art and Design, Mandarin Chinese, Biology, Music, and Foreign Languages, showcasing the diversity of talent within our school.

We could not be more proud of our students who have all been with us since Primary school, with two students starting the beginning of their educational journey with us at just age 2 in Early Years Foundation Stage 1.

We are thrilled to congratulate the following students for achieving Top in the World in their respective subjects:

These remarkable students demonstrated exceptional academic talent and dedication. Reflecting on her achievement, Jiwoo shared:

"I would definitely say it was challenging, but I am eternally grateful to be receiving this award as it reflects my hard work, dedication, as well as the help and support I received from the people around me, including my teacher Mr McCann, friends, and family. It is a special moment I never thought I would experience and will always cherish. I want to remind others to keep aiming for your goals and never lose confidence in the potential you can achieve in the future."

Similarly, Ingrid expressed her gratitude, saying:

"I am extremely grateful for this award; it is an accomplishment I never thought I would achieve. This award is a pure reflection of hard work, abounding support from my teachers and peers, and most importantly, self-belief. As students, we may find ourselves doubting our abilities, and it is important that we are reminded otherwise."

Top in Vietnam

The following students were awarded Top in Vietnam for their outstanding performance in their IGCSE subjects:

  • Nam Anh – Top in Vietnam in Art and Design – Joined BIS in Year 5
  • SiYeon – Top in Vietnam in Biology – Joined BIS in Year 5
  • Browny – Top in Vietnam in Music – Joined BIS in F1

SiYeon, who excelled in Biology, shared her perspective on the journey:

"The award serves as an indication that I have worked hard during my IGCSE exams. It proves that I can accomplish more if I can dedicate myself to the goals. My advice for future IGCSE students would be try to find joy within this journey and always reach out for help when you need it."

For Browny, achieving the award in Music reflected passion rather than pressure:

"Achieving an award of this magnitude was never a priority I had in mind going through the course. It was simply about doing the thing I loved most. What truly matters is that you have a passion for what you are doing, and the rest will come naturally."

High Achievement Award

We are also proud to announce that one of our students received a High Achievement Award for her outstanding performance in Foreign Language (Spanish):

  • Anjali – High Achievement in Foreign Language (Spanish) – Joined BIS in Year 3

Anjali described receiving the award as a deeply meaningful moment:

"Receiving this award was an incredibly special moment, and I want to say a huge thank you to my teachers and my family, who have encouraged and supported me along my journey."
