Six schools from around the city participated in the B Pool this year, many of those entering their ‘A’ teams, so the competition was tough for our B team. In hot and sunny conditions BIS fought hard in their first group game against CIS to come back from one goal down early on, in an end to end game that finished 5-3 to BIS. Both Bonny Nguyen and William Burden put on fine displays in goal, keeping BIS in touch in the game’s early stages. The team went into their second game with their confidence high, and after their first game jitters had passed, played free flowing passing football to comfortably dispatch SSIS B team 9-2. Superb performances across the team, with Ron Liu particularly impressing with five goals after recovering from his injury in the first game.
On to the semi-finals, and after topping their group BIS held their nerve against a tough Renaissance team, edging the game in a tense encounter ending 2-1. BIS faced CIS again in the final, in a riveting game of football that befitted a cup final match. BIS took the lead five times in a game that finished 5-5, just unable to hold on to the lead until the end. So, it came down to the torture of penalties. A cruel end to a fantastic day’s performance saw BIS miss out on the championship in the penalty shootout, however second place is something the team should be proud of, in a competition stacked with A teams from across the city. The team showed perseverance throughout the day and supported each other to the end, with every player in the squad contributing immensely to the overall result.

The BIS Community Rugby Co-Curricular Activity (CCA), in partnership with Rugby Cung Nhau (Rugby Together), is a powerful collaboration rooted in a shared vision: using sport as a tool to uplift and empower young people.
At BIS HCMC, leadership is more than just a title — it’s about inspiring others, fostering a sense of community, and embracing personal growth. This year’s Head Students, in Year 13, — Atom, JaeYeon, Tim, and Serena — embody these values with authenticity and dedication, each bringing their unique strengths, creativity, and passion to their roles.
We are thrilled to announce that a record three students from the BIS HCMC Class of 2025 have received offers from the University of Oxford, ranked number 3 in the world, and the University of Cambridge, ranked number 5 in the world. A huge congratulations to Quynh An, YeongSeo (Judy) and JaeYeon on their extraordinary achievement that sets a new benchmark for BIS students.
These achievements come as BIS students begin to secure outstanding offers from top universities around the world, including USA, UK, Australia and Asia and these numbers will only continue to rise as more decisions will be made over the coming weeks.
