United Nations International School Model United Nations (UNISMUN) is a 3 day, annual conference hosted by UNIS Hanoi. With 18 different international schools from all over South-East Asia participating, there were over 300 international students at the event, including 18 students representing BIS HCMC.
Across these three days, we presented the UN as it should be – delegates coming together to tackle the most pressing global challenges: severe and protracted conflicts that have resulted in shocking human suffering in seemingly uncontrolled chaos.
The delegates debated with exuberance and passion, never missing the opportunity to raise their placards. A constant roll of speeches led to a combined number of over 700 speeches made across all committees. Through the myriad sparks of debate, there were undoubtedly some very memorable moments such as the attempt to recreate the USSR, and a constant shortage of snacks - supposedly from the hunger for debate and the influence received from the guest speakers.
We were sad to be leaving Hanoi and UNISMUN for another year but one thing that did not get left in Hanoi was our ambition to take care of our world as we continue to fight for a better home.
