SISAC Cross Country Championships 2018

On Tuesday 6th February, our U9, U11, U14 and U19 students from both our primary and secondary campuses competed at the SISAC Cross Country City Championships in District 7.

This was the first SISAC competition since the primary amalgamation which meant BIS HCMC were able to enter 2 teams into the U9 and U11 boys and girls categories. In total, we had a whopping 56 students from the Junior Campus from Years 3-6 representing BIS HCMC.

Ali Thom, one of our primary PE Leaders tells us about the championships. "On a hot day, all students were a credit to the school and themselves, with most of our younger students running harder, faster and longer than ever before. Huge congratulations to all who took part. Whether you won your race or you just managed to make it around the course as quickly as you could, you have achieved, and should be very proud of yourselves."

For our older athletes from the Secondary Campus, each team consisted of 8 runners, with the top 5 finishers scoring points for their team to add up to the team total for each age group. In the U14 age group, the teams ran 3 laps of the 1.1km course and in the U19 category, they ran a total of 4.4km around the golf course. Incredibly, the teams came out victorious in all age groups, filling the top 10 finishers with our top 5 scoring athletes!

Phil Husband, Director of Sport and Head of Secondary PE commented, "It was an absolutely amazing effort from the team and testament to the training that they have been doing since November every Wednesday morning. Train hard, win easy. The BIS HCMC teams certainly did make this course look easy with their skill, tactics and determination in each of their races. A huge well done to all of the team and teachers for their efforts."
