Our amazing parents!
Last week I was celebrating the parents who cheered, encouraged, and celebrated our U11 FOBISIA team in Thailand. This week, however, I’m talking about all our parents who were cheering and celebrating for different reasons.
After a hiatus due to COVID, we welcomed the return of 'Shared Learning' in the Primary school on Tuesday morning, which saw around 300 parents join to celebrate their children’s learning this year.
Shared learning is magical; the children narrate their learning journey over the course of the year, picking out pieces of work they are proud of and talking about it with their parents. It was hard to tell who was more excited, the parents or the children, but it was a sea of smiles and celebrations as our students talked about their learning, challenges they’d overcome, and standout achievements over the course of the year.
Thank you, parents, for joining your child for shared learning. It was great to hear your positive feedback about how useful you found it. While we know that the children were sharing the learning that happens in school, we also want to recognise how much your love, care, and support for your children enable them to feel safe and ready to learn each day.
These opportunities also give us the chance to strengthen parent-child partnerships, and you can do the same with your child. What a brilliant morning! Thank you to everyone involved.
Wednesday evening’s ‘Summer Spectacular’ was our Performing Arts CCA showcase. A wonderful opportunity to celebrate the musical journey of over 200 of our primary and secondary students. An array of talent across the performing arts with musical ensembles, dance, and collaborations—what a great evening's entertainment it was.
We know that parents support comes not only from joining us for events such as this but also from encouraging daily practice and supporting the children with their lessons and CCAs. A huge thank you to all staff involved in Performing Arts CCAs and those supporting the concert. It was another fantastic event on the BIS calendar.
As I write this weekly newsletter, nerves are building amongst our 9 talent show finalists who are about to take to the stage this afternoon. There have been some incredible talents showcased again this year, and I look forward to sharing the results with you soon!
Good luck to our swimmers on Saturday at the HAC Gala, and wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
