Primary School Updates (23 September 2022) What a week it has been in Primary school celebrating student achievement.

Key Dates | Primary Learning Highlights

Dear Parents,

What a week it has been in primary school celebrating student achievement. This week has seen a fantastic turnout across Early Years and Primary for our first Parents’ Evening of the academic year. Teachers thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the children’s achievements and with parents sharing how the children have settled into the new environment, begun making friends and are already showing academic progress.

Ms. Goodwin has been working hard over the last few weeks to get the primary house captains in place.

Year 6 students were invited to apply to be a House Captain for Hanoi, Hue, Dalat or their Saigon house team. Last year's House Captains, who are now in Year 7, created a wonderful video explaining the opportunities and benefits of getting into student leadership. Their words certainly inspired the Year 6 hopefuls, as Ms. Goodwin received over 40 applications. Along with our secondary house captains and Ms. Carmichael, Ms. Goodwin interviewed all of our aspiring House and Vice Captains. As always, each and every one of the Year 6 students that applied for the role should be extremely proud of themselves.

Ms. Goodwin said, " It was an excellent few days interviewing the candidates. Everyone who applied impressed us in their own way and I want to say a huge thank you to all the children for their hard work and determination."

Well done to all of the applicants. We always learn from these experiences, whether or not we are successful.

It was wonderful to introduce the Primary House Captains for this academic year in assembly today, and we wish them well for the year ahead. Congratulations to Ashton, Miri, Yuzuki, Bay, Bao Tran, Hohyeon, Drew and Hyolim for becoming this year's House Captains and Vice Captains.

I know there are already lots of ideas about how they can broaden their roles and they’re excited about working with the Secondary leadership team too. Watch this space for more updates!

This week’s spotlight on learning is brought to you by Year 3. I hope you enjoy it.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
