Phase 2 (Years 3 & 4) Round-Up

Dear Parents,

It has been a wonderful half term in Phase 2 and the children have impressed us all with their perseverance, resilience and independence in our Virtual School Experience. The children continue to impress their teachers with the work they are submitting and it is lovely to see the children developing their independence in using our Virtual Platform, Microsoft Teams.

At the beginning of this half term, we had our Global Campus launch assembly. The children were then set different challenges relating to Global Goals, STEAM and Health and Well-Being. Well done to Ellie, Owen, Sayuri, Seojeong for their efforts in completing all the challenges. They were delighted to receive a special certificate in our assembly. The launch of Student Council took place this term and our Phase 2 representatives are Woojin, Minh Dan, Ellie, Oliver, Manon, Junsoo, Rahee and Gyo Eun Park. We are looking forward to seeing you develop your leadership skills, promote the voice of the student body and have a positive impact in our school.
Year 3 have had an exciting half term of learning and have impressed all their teachers. In topic they have been looking at different types of treasure and how not all treasure is gold jewellery. As historians, they have been investigating how archaeologists use various artefacts to tell them about people and civilizations of the past. As artists and designers, the children have been making their own pottery. We were very impressed with their designs! As scientists, they have been experimenting with light and how shadows are made. As mathematicians, the children have been exploring multiplication and division, using the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. They have been showing resilience and determination, through applying this learning to solving problems. The children have impressed their teachers this half term with their writing. They have been using the story ‘Star in a Jar’ to write descriptive narratives. The children have worked hard on creating their own ‘Myths and Legends’ and created their own monsters to inspire their writing.

As part of their topic ‘Explorers and Adventurers’, Year 4 have had the opportunity to take part in several project days this term. We have used Google Earth to travel across the world and take part in different activities. We became marine biologists and researched about life under the sea. We also became designers and used our knowledge of area and perimeter to design an explorer's base. In our library lessons, we have been working with Ms Hall to carry out a research project into a famous explorer of our choice. At the end of this term, we will be showcasing our learning from our library lessons and taking on the role of our chosen explorer in our Exit Point. Our weekly house quiz has allowed the children to develop their teamwork skills and they have enjoyed the different quiz themes each week.

In Phase 2 this term we have also had a big focus on developing the children’s social skills. The children have enjoyed their weekly Kumospace lessons, where they can play games and chat with their friends. We have also had our weekly ‘Time to Talk’ sessions and we are looking forward to next term, where we will have a new approach to developing the children’s social skills, through ‘Time to Play.’

Well done for a fantastic half term Phase 2! We are all very proud of you.

What an exciting start to term 1B in Year 2!

Year 2 students began their IPC Entry Point with 'A Day at the Circus,' where they created their own circus tent and a poster inviting visitors to their circus. They've also discovered a wealth of new information about their topics in other subjects.

It was wonderful to see how much our Year 2s enjoyed their circus experience. We hope you can keep this level of excitement up until the end of the semester.

Let's take a look at some of the most significant moments from the past few weeks in Year 2.
