Thriving, not just surviving

Thriving not just surviving - Thriving not just surviving
As we approach the end of Term 1, the upcoming winter break presents a valuable opportunity for students to strike a healthy balance between preparation and relaxation. While some time over the holidays can be devoted to revision and study, it’s equally important to step away from the day-to-day routines of school life to rest and recharge.
Recently, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Asha Dullabh for our first ‘The Big Issue’ event, focusing on anxiety and stress management. Her insights were a timely reminder of the importance of rest and recuperation—particularly during the holidays. After a busy and intense term, the winter break is an ideal time for students to reset both physically and mentally. This period of recovery is crucial for rebuilding the energy and focus they’ll need to tackle what lies ahead, whether that’s Year 13 mock exams, the Year 11 options process, or the exciting next steps in learning for other year groups.

We encourage parents to lead by example and model balance for their children. Engage in activities that promote well-being, such as family workouts, cosy movie nights, or taking advantage of Abu Dhabi’s beautiful winter weather with walks or outdoor adventures. These shared experiences can help create a restorative environment for your child while strengthening family connections.

Finally, remember: a well-rested, balanced student is better equipped to thrive; academically, socially, and emotionally, no matter what challenges come their way.

If you missed Dr. Asha’s session, you can find her presentation here.
