Admissions are now open for 2025/2026
Last term was brilliant for our BIS Abu Dhabi World Scholars!
Our 2025 season kicked off during the Winter Break, with 15 students competing in the Dubai Winter Global Round. In addition to taking part in the academic challenges of writing, debate and quizzing, students also enjoyed a fun-filled scavenger hunt at Global Village. We were thrilled that 12 of our scholars qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in November 2025 — an incredible achievement that we are all immensely proud of!
The season continued with our first Regional Round of the year, held in Dubai. We were delighted to see 21 students qualify for the next round. Two of our participants, Khlood in Year 7 and Anahita in Year 9, have written a personal report of the events:
Reflections from Khlood, Year 7
On the first morning of the Junior Division day at the World Scholar’s Cup Regional Round in Dubai, we arrived at Sunmarke Academy for an opening ceremony introducing us to the competition and the challenges ahead.
Our first academic challenge was Collaborative Writing — we spent 20 minutes planning with our team, followed by 40 minutes of writing and 15 minutes reflecting. The Scholar’s Challenge consisted of 120 multiple-choice questions based on this year’s theme: Igniting the Future, completed in one hour.
Some teams also participated in the Debate Round, where each group engaged in three debates, with speakers having four minutes to present either the affirmative or opposing side.
My favourite part of the day was Collaborative Writing, where I had the chance to explore an interesting topic in depth. After the challenges and debates, we enjoyed lunch provided by Sunmarke and returned to school, excited and ready for the final day of the event.
Thoughts from Anahita, Year 9
Hopping on a trend… or was it more like taking the big leap on Day 2 of the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Regional Round in Dubai!
We’ve heard it before — “What happens, happens for the best.” And on 24.02.2025, we put everything on the line and gave it our all.
Even though we’ve done WSC before, every season feels new: more competitive, with new faces, new challenges, and a new team spirit. But the goal is always the same — to walk away with medals, coins, and, most importantly, smiles.
During the Scholar’s Bowl, the energy was electric. Fingers flying on clickers, tension in the air, and then — cheers and celebrations as the answers lit up the auditorium like we’d just won a jackpot.
We also enjoyed watching many talented students perform on stage, reminding us that WSC is more than just academics — it’s about community and fun too.
And BIS Abu Dhabi? We shined again.
Our team qualified for the Global Round in Doha, and we celebrated individual wins including 3 Golds and 2 Silvers, with even more team awards across the school.
Yes, we did it again!
All the preparation, the dedication of students, the support of teachers and parents, and the energy from WSC organisers paid off in the most wonderful way.
Now, it’s time to prepare for the next big stage — the Global Round. And if we keep this momentum, we’ll be back at Yale this year for even more medals, memories, laughter and learning.
Because in the end… isn’t that what school life is all about?

You might have seen the trend going around - “If I could tell my younger self one thing…” - a moment to reflect, to offer advice we wish we’d heard earlier, or to remind ourselves of what truly matters.
As students prepare to cross some of the biggest milestones in school life, it feels like the perfect time to pause and join in that conversation. But it’s not just our students who are preparing — so are we, as parents. These milestones don’t just belong to them. We’re living every part of it too: the anticipation, the pride, the nerves, and the quiet hopes. Sometimes, it’s the hardest thing in the world — to watch them take these big steps, to stay strong when they wobble, to let go just a little more. It’s a milestone for us as much as it is for them — and we’re walking it together.

At The British International School Abu Dhabi, we believe that education is not just about academic success—it’s about nurturing compassionate, responsible young people who understand the importance of giving back. This Ramadan, I have been truly moved by the way our students have embraced the spirit of the holy month, demonstrating kindness, generosity, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
