Technology is an innovation of humans and learning how to intentionally engage with Big Data, Machine Learning, and the Internet of things is an essential skill in our everyday lives. As smart devices and cloud connection become an increasing part of daily life on Earth, coding and programming is evolving from an optional field of study into a basic literacy.
At BCB, our creative bunch of Y7’s are already on the flight path to learn to solve big process data by designing and planning a process using flowcharts. This also helps them identify its essential steps and simultaneously offer the bigger picture of the process. Organising the tasks in chronological order and identifying them by type is what they are building their skills on in their computing lessons!
C++ is still the go-to language for solutions that need fast machine performance. With so many applications across the tech industry, there is plenty of life in C++ yet.
However, even though C++ is used in everything from embedded systems to game development, you may still be wondering if C++ is easy to learn?
Well, this is a good question to ask the Year 8 students as they are totally into this exploration in lessons these days and will be more than happy to answer this in quite a lot of detail.
All programming is made to solve problems. By focusing on what problem you are solving with each new thing you learn, you’ll get a much deeper understanding of the language and programming in general.
Since Python is widely used in the world of data science and only growing in its popularity, it is an important tool for anyone getting started in data science. Learning Python as part of a wider data analytics skill set makes our students strong data analysts and are expected to have a wide array of skills.
The Year 9 tech enthusiasts who like to stay updated about trending technologies of today are passionate about all things in technology, they are keen researchers, and always inspiring to create some programs in Python and fascinate the power of coding.
So, what’s with the key highlight and a look forward for the Y10’s and 11’s? Well, needless to say, they are happily learning digital skills in a brand new computer lab! With all the software applications for the IGCSEs and the new Operating Systems it is providing fantastic opportunities to acquire more knowledge and expertise.
The Internet is an integral part of our lives and has become a greater medium of communication, data exchange, and entertainment over the past few years, but the online world also creates challenges.
To talk about these risks and some strategies to address them, on Tuesday, 8 February 2022 and during that week we celebrated the Safer Internet Day (SID) across the secondary computing lessons with a theme of "Together for a better internet". “Whether you are a young person, a parent or carer, a teacher or an educator, a policy maker, or whether you represent an organisation or industry, everyone has a role to play in creating and maintaining a better online world”- This was the takeaway for our young minds over that week.
When we feel engaged in learning, we learn better, remember better, and also apply knowledge better to real life. It is also innovative to provide multimedia to address diverse learning styles, students can learn in their own space and at their own pace.
We’ll be ready to usher in a new era of learning, one powered by tech and innovation but forever defined by Modern technology that has paved the way for multi-functional devices like the smartwatch and the smartphone. Information technology is important in our lives because it helps to deal with every day's dynamic things.
Far beyond the days of teens teaching adults to use webcams and smartphones, technology is already empowering kids who can code to solve problems for their communities. The objective of codes is to make tasks easier by developing more programs and applications and this is what our students constantly strive to do at BCB!
