The first STEAM challenge of the year was released last week - The coronavirus replica!
In this challenge, you should build your own coronavirus replica using anything that you have at home! Come up with 3 questions that you don't really know the (full) answer about COVID-19 and that begin with the words who, what, where, when, why or how? Example: How do masks prevent spreading on the virus? Think about the best way that you can present your replica and the possible answers to these questions you came up with. Is the answer something simple to be presented as a text, or would be better if you use more resources, such as pictures, videos or a display board? Have a look at some replicas below. Some materials used to make these ones are a globe, leek, beads, liquorice and a dress on the background. guava, cinnamon sticks, screw and a bowl as background.
Explain how you created your replica and what are each part of it. Share the answers you found to the questions you came up with when you started this project. Write a brief comment about your experience in this project and you might have your work published on the school instagram!
The Nord Anglia STEAM Festival 2025 offers Year 9 and 10 students a unique opportunity to collaborate with peers on hands-on projects focused on sustainability and global challenges.
