The Year 5 children took part in a 4 day residential trip to Cananeia in the south of Sao Paulo, and what an experience it was! The children boarded a 'schooner' to visit Ilha do Cardoso and saw dolphins along the way. Once on the island, they explored the Atlantic Rainforest and the beach and learnt all about the different ecosystems that exist on the island. Back on Cananeia island, the children had a once in a lifetime experience that challenged them to wade through mangroves where they were waist deep in thick mud. An experience they will certainly never forget! The children were invited to watch a show where the local 'Fandango' band played for them. They learnt all about popular music from the region and enjoyed dancing along to the local rhythms. Following this, the children explored the historical centre of Cananeia and of course enjoyed sampling the local ice cream! To conclude the trip, they went to a nearby restaurant to enjoy some delicious pizza. It was wonderful to see the children learning from first hand experiences and of course growing both socially and personally as well.
