We are delighted to announce that St Andrews International School Bangkok has achieved the prestigious Silver Eco-Schools Award! This recognition underscores our commitment to sustainability and highlights our innovative, whole-school approach to environmental education.
Exceptional eco practices
Typically, schools assessed for the Eco-Schools Award for the first time would initially qualify for the Bronze level. St Andrews Primary School, however, with our EcoBeasts’ food waste reduction and our consistent, proactive efforts to engage the entire school community in this crucial mission for environmental sustainability, has stood out as a school with exceptional eco practices. The judges, composed of an esteemed panel from the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) Thailand and Chula University, were so impressed with our initiatives that we’ve leapt directly to Silver—a testament to the hard work and passion of our students and staff.
“It is great that everyone's hard work has been recognised with this Eco-Schools Silver Award. Our EcoBeasts have successfully created positive change, and that’s something they can all be truly proud of. Well done!”
— Paul Schofield, Head of School
The Eco-Schools Bangkok judging panel included prominent figures such as K Peerapun Baikwang and K Jiraporn Vorabuth from WWF Thailand, alongside K Varoon Varanyanond, Assistant Project Manager at Chula University’s Chula Zero Waste programme. Their expertise supported the evaluation process, and provided our school with a pathway to higher-level recognition.
STA Primary EcoBeasts
One of our main projects focused on reducing food waste, an issue that resonates with both global and local communities. Through educational campaigns, workshops, and community engagement, our Eco Committee has not only raised awareness about the importance of minimising waste but also implemented a culture of sustainability that empowers our students to take meaningful action.
At St Andrews Bangkok, our students understand the impact of their choices. Early understanding and implementation of sustainable practices are the foundation for our environmentally-conscious leaders of tomorrow. This award serves as a powerful reminder that when a community unites with a common purpose, positive change is possible.
“Thank you to all parents, students, teachers, admin and Estates staff that came together throughout the year to work toward achieving this impressive award. Look out for future updates from the EcoBeasts on how you can continue to support sustainability here at STA.
A massive thank you, especially to Mr Ewen and Ms Donna, who led the Eco team to success.”
— Steve King, Deputy Head of Primary
Making a positive change, together

A massive thank you to everyone in our school community for your tireless support and dedication to sustainability. Through innovation, education, and community spirit, we will keep exploring ways to make positive change.
