Mr Sam, our new Year 1 teacher at the Primary School, holds an Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1) in (BEd) Primary Education and has been teaching early years for many years before joining our school.
Your education and other work experience(s)
After I completed my degree at University, I spent 5 years at a school in Bristol, UK. For the first 4 years I taught in a Reception class and then went on to teach in a Year 1 class. Since then I have completed 3 more years in Year 1 at a British International School in Phuket.
International school experience.
I have spent the last 3 years at an International British School in Phuket. I have loved living and working in Thailand; eating amazing food, meeting wonderful people and visiting the most beautiful places.
What’s your favourite thing to do and why?
I love to explore and am a big lover of animals. I enjoy diving in beautiful dive sites where there are thousands of sea creatures as well as exploring jungles, looking for the most wonderful wildlife.
What hobbies do you have and what do you love about them? And what are your other interests?
I am quite competitive and enjoy taking part in a whole host of sports. I particularly enjoy running and I am always looking for races to take part in. My aim is to run 3 marathons before I’m 30! I also enjoy playing football and watching the greatest football team in the World; Chelsea FC.
What do you feel most passionately about and why?
I truly feel blessed to be a teacher as it is such a rewarding profession. It is so satisfying seeing children get excited about learning and watching them grow into confident, independent learners. “Teamwork makes the dream work” is a phrase I often use in my class. Successful teams support each other, have positive relationships and respect everyone. I want my team to believe they are the best and can do anything that they set their minds to.
