Meet the Teacher | Ms Jasmine - Ms Jasmine

Meet the Teacher (#TEACHERFEATURE) is a St Andrews Bangkok community series that will give you a chance to get to know our outstanding educators – their thoughts, ideas and experiences.

Ms Jasmine, our new Drama teacher at the High School joins us this 2023/2024 academic year. She taught Drama and Dance at UNIS Hanoi in Vietnam for two years and Drama at the International School of Penang (Uplands) in Malaysia for four years. She holds a Master's Degree in International Performance Research from the University of Warwick, another Master's Degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Amsterdam, and PGCEi from the University of Nottingham.

Your education and other work experience(s)

I have a strong academic background in Theatre and Performance Studies. Prior to teaching, I worked as a theatre and dance critic for Bangkok's major English-language newspaper.

An interesting fun fact about you.

I used to live and breathe ballet, and I am still a big fan. As a teenager, I spent every single evening after school and every Saturday at the ballet studio. I have also performed with the Stuttgart Ballet as an extra in their production of "Romeo and Juliet".

What do you feel most passionately about and why?

I am a passionate advocate for Drama in schools and I feel fortunate to be at a school that values the Arts like STA. Through the collaborative process of creating, rehearsing and performing, students take risks and develop a shared sense of responsibility, empathy for the actions of others, and growth in self-esteem. I see these attributes as essential to developing a caring, principled global citizen.
