Last week, there was a tremendous sense of relief and achievement as the Class of 2022 overcame their final exam hurdle before Graduation. Year 13 students came to the Primary School to rekindle memories of the campus where their academic journey began. Meeting up with many of their old teachers at the Primary School. It was great for the soon to be graduates to reminisce about the wonderful times they had, learning how to be the students they are today.

On Friday 20th May,  the final IB examination for this Class was sat, and when it was over, everyone in the year group knew they could finally relax. Also, a large group of students from the graduating class came to the Primary School to rekindle memories of the campus where their academic journey began. Back then this part of the school made up their world, and the very idea of one day graduating from High School seemed so far away. Many of their old teachers can still be found at the Primary School, and it was great for the graduates to be able to meet up with them and reminisce about the wonderful times they had learning how to be the students they are today.

This week there will be six Graduation Ceremonies in our High School Theatre, hosting the graduates and their families. Our grand rehearsal took place on Monday when all members of the graduating class will be present to go through the final arrangements and pick up their caps and gowns. On Sunday, the Graduation Dinner will be held to celebrate the passing of the Class of 2022 from St Andrews on to their next stage in life, most likely college or university in Thailand or somewhere around the world.

Traffic Issues

We all know that the traffic on Sukhumvit 71 is very busy at the start of the school day. It has been brought to our attention both by local residents and the police who help us each day to manage the traffic flow that some of our parents or their drivers are not being considerate to other users of the road and the local residents who live in the houses around our school. The police have said that there are some cars from our school that cut in the queue, moving across the inner lane of traffic, resulting in much worse congestion in the street. At the moment the police have not acted on these individual cases, but have said that if this continues they will have to possibly take action against the drivers of these vehicles.

Please review the time you are setting off to come to the Primary School and try to stay in the correct lane, which may mean a longer time to get to the car park or the drop off zone at the school. It is important that we take notice of what the police and local residents are telling us and act accordingly to remove these actions or the police will be forced to act.

This is a reminder that Gate 2 on Soi 20 is closed for parents and students. It is only used by students and people using the shuttle bus service to the school.  Please do not drop children on Soi 20 and expect them to access this gate. Also, there should be no cars being parked on Soi 20 or any of the surrounding streets as the residents have complained about our school parents blocking them in. This has meant the school is under very strict measures to keep this area free of cars. The gate on Soi 20 should only be used by those individuals using the shuttle bus.

If as a school community, we cannot follow and maintain this area around Soi 20 Gate 2 free from cars then gate 2 could be permanently ordered to close, which would mean an even bigger traffic problem for us all to deal with.

Thank you for your help with these important issues.
