Student Council

The Student Council recently had its first meeting, which was a great success. The members discussed the importance of working together with each other and across the whole school to help make the school a happier, safer place and to improve the wellbeing of all students. They had lots of ideas to share!

Our Student Council members are also known as ‘Listening Ears’ and next on their agenda is Listening & Advice Training to help them in this important role. They will learn how they can advise and support other students across the school who will be able to approach them for help if they have any problems.

Another important job on the agenda is to get the long-awaited ‘Friendship Zone’ up and running. After long delays due to covid, plans for this are coming along nicely and will be ready to be launched soon.

Look out for students wearing their Student Council badges…

Foundation Stage celebrate Chinese New Year!

Last week saw the Foundation Stage students dressing up to celebrate and enjoy the start of the Chinese New Year. The start of the year of the tiger was seen in by playing games, dressing up and getting outside. You can see from these wonderful pictures how much fun the students were having.

Year 3 make Greek Clay Pots

Last week saw Year 3 putting their artistic skills to the test to create some Greek clay pots to support their topic all about the Greek civilisation. These coil pots are carefully made by ‘scoring’ the clay and adding water to create ‘slip’ which helps the clay stick together. Once finished, the pots will be decorated with Ancient Greek designs which the children will decide on after studying classic designs from the time period.

Titanic Hats in Year 4

The Year 4s were also showing their creative side this week by starting to make their hats that will be part of their costume for their Titanic Day later this term. The hats are based on designs of hats that would have been worn by people that travelled on the infamous Titanic voyage. The students have designed their hats over the last few weeks, gathered materials and now have started putting all this together to create the finished version. We look forward to seeing the result on ‘Titanic Day’ on Thursday 9th February. Events to be enjoyed that day will include science experiments to do with sinking and floating, a tea party and ship games, similar to the ones that would have been played on board the Titanic.

STARS Love is in the air

The students in STARs have been busy preparing to spread the love by making valentines gifts. If you would like to treat someone special to one of our valentines sweet cones send in 20 baht with your child. The students will go around campus this week and next to sell the cones to their peers. We love seeing everyone get involved and interact during the selling process. We have used lots of maths skills to make these cones and look forward to spreading the love through our community with these sweet treats.

Book Week is Back!

The EYFS and Primary Book Week will take place during the week beginning 28th February. This year, the theme is 'Celebrating the Love of Reading.' This is always a wonderful week which celebrates just how amazing books are! There will be LOTS of brilliant book-related events and competitions for the children to take part in and LOTS of house points to be won!  More information will be given out about these nearer the time.

On the Friday of Book Week, the children and staff will come to school in a book character costume. Each year group will have a parade to showcase these wonderful costumes, and for Primary, the best costume from each class will be given a book voucher. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help to create a costume for your child/children to wear.
