That new term buzz is still here as the students were all really excited to see their classmates in person for the first time in 2022. Also, we wanted to highlight all of Year 6 for their exceptional Shakespearian poetry creations, which you can read below.
It has been so wonderful to see all the ‘masked’ faces of our students back at STA today. That new term buzz was back, and the students were all really excited to come in and see their classmates for the first time this term. We also welcomed many new students today who are experiencing STA for the first time, and it was great to see them buddied up and looked after by the community.
Thank you all for supporting us by doing the ATK testing on a Sunday evening or Monday morning. It really helps to know that all that come through our gates have had a negative result on an ATK. We also thank you for updating the Moodle Health App twice a week with the results of the tests. These steps will hopefully keep our community safe and well.
With the news that our partner hospitals may soon make available COVID-19 vaccines for children between the age of 5-11, we need to update our school list of students who are eligible for future opportunities, which may include this age group.
If your child is between the age of 5-18, please be sure to indicate whether you consent to being contacted for future vaccination opportunities. We kindly ask for your cooperation in taking one of the following actions within a parent Moodle account:
If you consent to being contacted regarding any future student vaccination opportunities, we will email you as soon as one of our partner hospitals allocate shots for age-eligible students in our school.
We ask parents to assess all vaccine opportunities for their children and whether they wish to become involved. We are merely making parents aware of opportunities and putting them in contact with relevant hospitals.
Ms Alison writes about what’s been happening in Year 6 English.
This week, Year 6 have been learning about William Shakespeare for their biographies topic. As part of their research, they learned about his poetry and looked at the Shakespearean sonnet, ‘Sonnet 18’. The students looked at the form, structure and meaning of the sonnet and then created their own poetry from a choice of tasks. Some students chose to emulate the sonnet style by writing their own sonnet. Others took the original ‘Sonnet 18’ and created their own unique poem from it using a technique called blackout poetry. We are very pleased with all of the students’ work.
Here is a selection of Poems to read through
As Mr Paul mentioned above, please can all parents complete the NAE Parents Satisfaction Survey. It will take no more than 10 minutes and is in a range of languages as well as English. The more families who complete it, the better the feedback and the more we can further improve the school to meet your families requirements better.
