We've launched our new fundraising campaign, STAr Jump for Klong Toey. We are raising money to buy hot meals, essentials and care packs. Many teachers have already filmed their STAr Jumps for Klong Toey. So getting jumping and share your jumps for Klong Toey!
As promised last week, today we launch our new fundraising campaign, STAr Jump for Klong Toey, to try to help the children and families of Klong Toey.
We will be supporting Bangkok Community Help, an organisation that has been operating in Klong Toey for several years. A number of staff and students have already been volunteering their time with them, preparing supplies and helping to distribute aid. You can find out more about the vital work Bangkok Community Help is doing by having a look at their Facebook page.
St Andrews has decided to take a lead in helping these families, and we are asking for your support with this. Our initial goal is to raise 200,000 Baht and then work towards 1 million baht for Klong Toey. To achieve this we need as many families as possible to support the sponsored STAr Jumps - either by doing as many jumps as they can or by sponsoring someone else who is. We are suggesting that sponsors make a donation of 10 Baht per jump (or more if you wish!) and would also like you to contact your friends and relatives who may like to make a contribution and sponsor your jumps.
A number of teachers, including me, have already filmed their STAr Jumps for Klong Toey - you can see the video here - and we are asking High School students to film their jumps and upload their videos to their Year Group Flipgrids. If you are comfortable with the idea, we are also suggesting you post your own video on any social media networks you might be part of. Who knows - maybe someone else will be inspired to donate too.
Your donations will make a real difference to our neighbours in Klong Toey. Just 20 Baht (or 2 jumps) can provide a hot meal to someone living there and a donation of 222 Baht is all it takes to provide a care pack which contains food and essentials to support a family for an entire week. Once students have collected their sponsorship money, we would kindly request your assistance in arranging for donations to be sent via our dedicated Moodle page. We will post a totaliser on our home page and send out updates so that students and their families can see the results of their hard efforts.
