Our students raise money for a Thai children’s community. We are all looking forward to this week’s Working Title and the IB Visual Arts Exhibition: Immunity. Get ready to rock your socks for World Down Syndrome Day! And finally, we have hit a milestone, with offers from over 100 different universities.
This week is our annual Week Without, with students and teachers giving something up for the week, with all sponsorship money going to Baan Luk Rak Children’s Home in Khon Kaen.
Many students around the High School are giving up items such as sweets, junk food, social media and video games, with some Tutor Groups all agreeing what to give up: 8f are giving up chocolate, 11c are giving up using their phones in the mornings and Sg are giving up snacks.
We are all looking forward to this week’s Working Title and the IB Visual Arts Exhibition: Immunity
There are still some tickets for Working Title on sale, for 200 baht, from the Accounts Window in the High School Office. Please book your tickets as a family group to allow for appropriate physical distancing. Ticket holders will also be some of the first to see the IB Visual Arts Exhibition.
This Sunday is World Down syndrome Day, and we are celebrating and embracing this day on Friday this week by wearing mismatched socks. We have a number of students with Down Syndrome in our school community, in our STARS and Embracing Differences programs, who are such caring and delightful students who go about their day with positive and optimistic attitudes. On Friday STA will celebrate and recognize these students, and those with Down Syndrome in the wider community, by rocking our crazy socks.
As you can see from the infographic above, Year 13 students now have offers and acceptances from 100 different universities in 11 different countries.
Congratulations to Namveer, who has recently received an offer to study Football Coaching and Performance at The University of South Wales - Year 13’s 100th different university. Namveer already also has an offer to study Sport Coaching at Liverpool John Moores University and is still waiting to hear from Manchester Metropolitan University, where he has applied to study Community Football Coaching, working with Manchester City’s City in the Community Foundation.
Congratulations also to Vera, whose offer to study Business Management at EDHEC Business School is the first offer that a Year 13 student has received from a French university this year. Vera already also has an offer to study Economics & Business Economics at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, and is still waiting to hear from two other universities in the Netherlands, and is looking forward to having to make a very difficult choice.
As always, you can see more details about this year’s, and previous year’s, University Offers and Acceptances on our website.
