Find out about the experts that will be virtually visiting us from Juilliard, an update on Air Quality, details of Year 9 IGCSE information evening and the Flu Vaccination Programme.
After a fantastic visit from Brian Drye, our Juilliard Music Specialist, last week, with his two hour session with the Jazz Band a real highlight, this week we welcome Hilary Easton and Aurea Tomeski, who are our Dance and Drama Specialists. I know that our Dance and Drama students, and teachers, are really looking forward to working with them. As well as teacher PD, Aurea will be leading a live session with our Yr 12 IB Theatre Arts students. Hilary will also be offering teacher PD as well as leading a Yr 10/11IGCSE Dance masterclass and a live Year 7 lesson. So lots of exciting activities to look forward to. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates during the week.
The AQI was over 100 over the weekend and again this morning, so I thought that it would be useful to remind you all of our Air Quality Policy.
We monitor the AQI at all times, with 12 AirVisual air monitoring devices, inside and outside, across Primary and the High School. You can see data from our public AirVisual device both on the Air Visual website, which updates every hour, and live on the Moodle homepage:
For the last year we have also had over 100 Mi Air Purifier Pros in classrooms around the High School, ensuring that the students and teachers are breathing clean air whatever the AQI is outside.
At break and lunchtimes, it is important to remember that all High School students always have access to the Shared Areas and the Library during breaks and lunchtimes, and to the Sports Hall during lunchtimes, so any High School students who are unusually sensitive to air pollution have plenty of options.
Year 9 Options Parents’ Information Evening and Key Stage 3 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings
On Tuesday this week, Ms Chrissy and I will be hosting the Year 9 IGCSE Options Parents' Information Evening. I will share the recorded presentation with you all in a future Newsletter, as I did for the recent IB Diploma Programme Parents' Information Evening.
This Information Evening launches the Year 9 IGCSE Options process and, as you can see on the Calendar below, is timed to prepare parents and students to discuss their options choices in the forthcoming Key Stage 3 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings. Mr Paul, Ms Lucy and Ms Chrissy will email parents of students in Years 7, 8 and 9 respectively with more details later this week.
Many of you will know that for a number of years, we have been hosting a Flu Vaccination Programme for our school community.
This year’s Flu Vaccination Programme will be held on Friday 27th November from 1 pm to 4 pm in the Primary School’s Drama Studio. The programme, in collaboration with Samitivej Hospital, will be open to all members of the family at a price of 590 baht per shot.
The programme is always popular, and this year we anticipate will be even more so. To make sure we have ordered enough vaccines please complete this form to register. A form must be completed for each person who is to receive the vaccine. You will also need to print and complete this form, and bring it, with your payment, on the day.
With parental consent, High School students may take the shuttle bus to Primary at 2:30 pm to receive their vaccination independently.
Please remember that all the school's Google Calendars can be seen via Moodle: calendar.standrews.ac.th
