After some fantastic performances of A Christmas Carol, we are now into the last week of term, and looking forward to our annual Christmas Fair and Concert and the end of Term 1 at St Andrews International School Bangkok
Last week saw some fantastic performances of the KS3 production of A Christmas Carol, the source of this week’s headline. See the Drama section of this Newsletter for more photos and a full writeup.
This week, we end the term with our annual Christmas Fair and Concert, taking place from 2:30pm on Thursday. At the Christmas Fair, there will be a number of stalls run by CAS, Service ECA, Business Studies and Tanzania students stalls in the Atrium, as well as a Christmas Market featuring a number of external vendors in the Promenade outside the Gold Building. This will be followed by the Christmas Concert, featuring music from a number of our Music ECAs as well as Years 7, 8 and 9, in the Sports Hall.
On Friday we will have two End of Term Assemblies, with Parents very welcome to join us for either the KS4/5 Assembly, taking place during PSHE (8:30-9:00), or the KS3 Assembly, taking place at the end of Period 3 (11:00-11:30).
From 11:30, lunch will be available to students, but students are also free to leave school at this time. School Buses will leave at 12:30.
I look forward to seeing you all at these events later this week, and hope that you all have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Last week STA Students were excited to attend UNESCO’s World Science Day and represent the school, they were the only school invited to attend.
Taiyo Nogami, a Year 13 student from the SuSTAinability Team & Plastic Initiative ECA, wrote this reflection on the day:
The UNESCO event was an eye-opening experience for all of us. We were discussing different environmental issues and how to tackle them with professionals and organisation. It was really interesting to see different countries share their sustainability initiatives and projects and how they have implemented them in their countries and communities. One such example we saw was a presentation on water-free toilets in rural communities in China.
We all enjoyed this event and I recommend all of the high school students especially senior students to participate in future events. It is essential to discuss the global goals since we are all at that point in time where we should all be concerned about these issues, and we all are facing an existential threat. The SuSTAinability Team will now aim to implement some of the strategies going forward. We also wish to invite other students to join the cause and help raise awareness of these issues, please email the suSTAinability team if you are interested in joining at sustainability-group@standrews.ac.th.
Finally, a reminder to complete the NAE Parent Satisfaction Survey, which was e-mailed out last week, as your feedback helps us to provide the best possible experiences for your son/daughter.
Please note that parents need to complete the survey in one sitting. The survey is designed to capture feedback on a per family basis, but if both parents take the survey this is also fine.
The views of all of our parents will be used to inform our strategies for continued improvement. The closing date is Friday 31st January 2020.
