We look at the developing ideas of GCSE Art and Photography students.
As Year 11 GCSE Art and Photography students speed towards the completion of their first coursework unit, based on the theme ‘Distorted Portraits’, we reflected on the importance of the developmental work in their sketchbooks. Here we will find reflections on their creative direction, observational work and a range of experiments with media and processes. This is all part of the journey they make over a long period of time, which culminates with a personal and creative outcome. Here are some of the wonderful pages from the young creatives of St Andrews International School Bangkok.
An expert draughtsman, Erik in Year 12 Se, created a series of drawings of his headphones, observed from different viewpoints and then distorted and juxtaposed with a second object, a spoon.
With the goal of providing meaningful help to the flood victims in the northern regions of Thailand, our entire community at St Andrews Bangkok came together to raise funds and donations for the affected families. In the span of a few short weeks, added to donations of food and clothing, we managed to raise an astounding total of 386,676.50 THB in donation funds. To all students, teachers, parents, and staff who participated in our efforts and contributed to this cause—thank you!
