We have a peek inside the portfolio of our ‘Highest Mark in the World’ GCSE student.
This week were were delighted to see one of our students Yu Jin Ahn receiving her award for the Highest Mark in the World in Edexcel GCSE Art, Craft and Design.
Yu Jin has been a prominent member of St Andrew’s Art Department for some time now and is currently completing her IB Visual Arts course. In March, Yu Jin was nominated ‘Artist of the Week’ for her piece ‘Prejudice’, pictured below, and has continued to produce a highly creative portfolio of artwork. Favouring a figurative approach, Yu Jin’s work also has subtle conceptual qualities, suggesting the tensions between nature and popular culture. We would like to congratulate Yu Jin on her award, as well as her continued success in the Visual Arts. The work below is from Yu Jin’s current practice, as well as some earlier pieces from GCSE that helped her win her prestigious award
Using acrylic paint and a palette knife, Harmony, in year 7, has created this beautiful and vibrant landscape. It is great to see our young art students working so hard.
Eloise reflects on her experiences representing St Andrews International School at the annual Remembrance Day service hosted by the British Club in Bangkok. She expresses her deep gratitude for honouring the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and the pride she feels in continuing a family tradition while representing her school and community. Eloise emphasises the importance of this meaningful event in fostering remembrance and appreciation.
Students at St Andrews International School Bangkok have begun an exciting artificial intelligence project: integrating Nord Anglia’s “Misty the Robot” with conversational AI model, ChatGPT. Under the guidance of our Head of Robotics, Mr Rob Parker, they recently presented their results to Regional Managing Director, Mr Shaun Williams, as well as the Board of Directors at St Andrews, with the proposition of growing this project as a collaborative research venture across Nord Anglia schools.
