Staff at the Simon Lawrence Library at St Andrews International School Bangkok are happy to give you more details about Destiny Discover - an extremely useful tool for our students and teachers alike.
Since the beginning of the year, the Simon Lawrence Library has been collecting a variety of digital resources for our students and teachers, specifically our IB students, in order to support their research. So far, we have built 5 collections such as Resources for Writing Research Papers (TOK & EE), Useful Resources for Research, Books: Bangkok Book Awards, Books: Newbery Medal Winners and Books: TOK. In terms of available resources related to any research purposes, our collections contain several useful referencing tools for different kinds of citation styles including EasyBib, Zotero and MyBib, some practical guides for avoiding plagiarism and paraphrasing, learning how to do research, and two exclusive digital research libraries - JSTOR & Questia School that our school has subscribed to. We have already been encouraging our Y12 & 13 students to search recommended books for TOK in the collection called ‘Books: TOK (Theory of Knowledge)’ of our library system since last year. We believe these collections will be of huge help to students in doing their research, and especially for IB students to cope with TOK & EE.
In order to access our collection in Destiny Discover, you can download and install the Destiny Discover app from the Apple Store or Google Play on your mobile device or access directly a web-version by clicking this link. When you install the app on your mobile device, you can type our school name, ‘St Andrews International School Bangkok - High School, Bangkok, Thailand’ in the ‘School’ tab and select our school from the top-down menu. Then, you can see our library collections immediately. The more details on where to find them are as follows. We hope you enjoy our collections and experience a new interface of our library system for diverse digital resources.
With the goal of providing meaningful help to the flood victims in the northern regions of Thailand, our entire community at St Andrews Bangkok came together to raise funds and donations for the affected families. In the span of a few short weeks, added to donations of food and clothing, we managed to raise an astounding total of 386,676.50 THB in donation funds. To all students, teachers, parents, and staff who participated in our efforts and contributed to this cause—thank you!
