Last week Year 4 STA students explored the different techniques required to play the Ranard, Angkalong, Klong Khek and Ching with visiting Thai musicians.
Last week Year 4 had some wonderful workshops and performances from our visiting Thai Musicians, Khun Pom and Khun Toon.
They explored the different techniques required to play the Ranard, Angkalong, Klong Khek and Ching. The children demonstrated their curiosity through asking lots and lots of questions, and challenged themselves by trying out new music which they learnt by ear. We even had some children conducting the group!
This was a great opportunity to develop familiarity with the pentatonic scale which is commonly used in traditional Thai music. One highlight for the children was making requests for different pieces of Thai music which Khun Pom then performed on Ranard.
At St Andrews Bangkok, we believe that every child has the potential to discover and develop a unique musical voice. Our Instrumental Programme offers students an extraordinary opportunity to explore and master a range of musical instruments, fostering a lifelong love for music and enhancing their cognitive and creative development.
St Andrews International School Bangkok students had remarkable success in the Virtual Young Musician 2024 competition, held by Nord Anglia Education Global Campus.
