Students from St Andrews International School Bangkok took part in the recent World Scholar’s Cup held at Brighton College Bangkok 18 - 19 March.
The World Scholar’s Cup is an international organisation which aims to inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders and to motivate students of all backgrounds to discover new strengths and practice new skills. In this event more than 300 scholars from 17 schools in Thailand and Malaysia gathered for the experience. Students were involved in team debates, negotiating complex motions, collaborative writing challenges and problem solving activities. Our students did the St Andrews Community proud by excelling in many areas over the 2 days, especially in the debating events in which they showed tremendous maturity and outstanding communication skills. Their success and contributions led to all of our teams receiving an invitation to attend the Global Rounds taking place later in the year. St Andrews students walked away with numerous medals, awards and commendations. To mention just a few, Zakk, Sasha and Destiny (Y11) all came away with three key medals each, in subjects such as Literature, Science, History and Arts. Anshika and Tiya (Y9), both gained two medals for their writing and debating skills and Emily (Y9) was recognized as one of the champion scholars. A special mention must go to Michelle (Y11) who was our top performer and walked away with no fewer than 7 medals. Congratulations to all of our students on their achievements.
As part of the St Andrews Careers programme, Year 10 and Year 12 students had the valuable opportunity to hear from 20 industry professionals, including alumni, about various career pathways. The morning panel discussions provided insights into professional routes, required qualifications, and essential interpersonal skills for workplace success.
As Term 3 comes to an end, three senior students, Eleonore, Natalie, and Ananya, reflect on their experiences in the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Perhaps one of the most meaningful projects Ananya and Natalie took on during their senior studies was starting a foundation with a few other friends called Today4tomorrow – an initiative to provide opportunities to underprivileged girls in Thailand.
