Congratulations to Natasha (IGCSE Enterprise), Eloi (IGCSE First Language French), Naomi (IGCSE Environmental Management) and Grace (IGCSE Business Studies and Top in the World at IGCSE First Language Thai), our four winners at the CIE Outstanding Learners Award, held at Bangkok Patana School on Wednesday last week, and to their parents and teachers who have helped them achieve the best marks in Thailand, or the World, in these subjects.
On Friday, we have the first of our Christmas activities, the KS3 Winter Disco, followed eight days later by the KS4/5 Winter Ball. These events have been organised by groups of Year 12 CAS students, who are raising funds for their various Service Projects, and tickets to both are on sale in The Atrium at break and lunchtimes.
I have added these events, and the other Christmas events that will be taking place in the last two weeks of term, to the calendar below.
Before these, however, this week is High School Book Week, with a huge variety of events taking place between now and Friday's Book Character Day. Some highlights include:
Today, we were visited by Seyi Rhodes, an investigative journalist who has worked on many UK television programmes, including Unreported World, which aims to uncover stories that are not receiving as much coverage in the world's media. Seyi worked with students in Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 during the day, exploring both ideas around current issues in the media with English students and giving a personal insight into a number of recent case-studies for Geography students.
On Thursday, Year 7 will be working with their Book Week visitor, Cat Faulder, "The Bedroom Poet", who will be both performing some of her spoken word poetry and working with the students on theirs.
Between these two visitors, we have 129 visitors on Wednesday, when Year 6 will be visiting the High School to work with Year 10 students on a Poetry Hunt around the High School. At the same time, the Primary School will have 139 visitors, as Year 9 will be making the short journey back to Sukhumvit 71 to work with Year 3 students.
As well as all of this, there will be lots of other events happening around the school, and around 1aBlue, where we will have pop-up bookshops on Floor 1 of the Blue Building as well as Get Caught Reading, Golden Tickets and Blind Date with a Book. To find out more about all of these events head to 1aBlue.
All this and Year 7 and 8 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings too! It's going to be another very busy week in the High School...
