Last week St. Andrews Music Department welcomed Kathryn Andersen, our music curriculum specialist from The Juilliard School, New York. Kathryn came to work with teachers and students as part of our collaboration with The Juilliard School, one of the world's preeminent performing arts institutions. During her three days at St. Andrews, Kathryn worked with students in their music lessons and students shared their work with her in special assemblies. She also gave performances and was interviewed by some of our Primary students about her life as a professional musician.
As a professional violinist, Kathryn worked closely with our String Ensemble during her visit. This was a great opportunity for our string players as Kathryn is an experienced musician who has performed all over the world. There was a lot of excitement coupled with focus as our young musicians displayed their professionalism in ensemble performance.
This was the first of several visits Kathryn will make to our school and she returns in February next year. Over the coming year we will be visited by other professional musicians, actors and dancers from The Juilliard School and we are very excited to welcome them to our school.
