A busy year in Sport As another academic year of sport draws to an end, there is just about enough time to pause for a breath and reflect on what has been another busy and successful year for our Regents Lions. There has been home runs, goals, baskets, cries of ahoy, two hand finishes, photo finishes and even a hole in one, as our pupils have once again immersed themselves in a wide range of sports here at Regents.ye

Awards, Gala’s, splashing, cheering and persevering, just another year in Primary Sport at Regents School!

The highlight in the Primary sporting calendar is of course FOBISIA and this year the competition was hosted by St. Christopher’s School, on the island of Penang. Our preparation leading up to the event was extensive and tested the character and resolve of our young athletes, who all emerged fortified by the experience and produced memorable performances in all sporting disciplines during the FOBISIA games. Our medal haul was equally impressive, as we strutted home with a total of 135 medals. Recognition of these achievements came in the form of our annual Sports Awards Gala Dinner, which was held at The Cholchan Hotel Pattaya. This evening provided the opportunity to thank a number of people and celebrate our sporting success and the efforts of all our young athletes.

Sport in our Primary School continues to flourish and provide students with opportunities to develop their skills. The arrival of our new facilities, such as the astro turf, air conditioned gymnasium and learner swimming pool have all bolstered our mission of achieving sporting excellence and engaging as many children through sport as possible. Last week the spotlight was on the swimming pool where all Early Years and Primary pupils were working hard, competing for their house in our Swimming Gala’s and swim demonstration lessons. This year our Primary athletes have had the opportunity to compete in over 40 local fixtures in various sports and have all contributed to a memorable sports day, competing ferociously for their houses. Next year will see sport at the forefront once again, as we prepare to host the first ever regional Nord Anglia Games in November, headed up by our very own Mr Crush. We will also be playing host to the Primary FOBISIA Games and we are confident that we can take full advantage of playing at home.

On a personal level my Regents Lion journey is coming to an end. I would like to acknowledge a few people as I prepare to depart for a move to Kuala Lumpur. It has been a fantastic two years of action packed sport and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I will always carry fond memories of the Regents pupils and staff and be grateful for the lessons I have learnt during my tenure as Head of Primary PE. A big thank you to Mrs McConnell and all the PE team who continue to work hard for our pupils and who have always made me feel so welcome. Finally to the Regents parents and pupils my appreciation goes out to you for your support and assistance, it has been a great pleasure. In the words of the late great Muhammad Ali, “don’t count the days, make the days count” and continue to love sport for life.
