Read to Grow Book Collection & World Book Day The 7th graders are working on the UN's Sustainable Development Goal #4 - Quality Education, and are partnering with the Read to Grow foundation. By donating books to this organization, you are giving another child somewhere in the world an opportunity to learn.

World Book Day is a celebration to promote the enjoyment of books and reading. Each year, on April 23rd, celebrations take place all over the world to recognize the magical power of books. The 7th graders are working are partnering with the Read to Grow foundation. Read on below to see how you can help!

Do you have any books that need a new home? No problem. You can put them to good use by donating them to a charity called Read to Grow. Read to Grow is based in Handel, The Netherlands, and supports children worldwide who are missing quality education.

This year in Grade 7 CVP (Core Values Program) class, we are focusing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) #4, which is Quality Education. Quality Education entails subgoals such as free education, no discrimination in education, achieving literacy and numeracy, and many more. By donating books to this organization, you are giving another child somewhere in the world an opportunity to learn! Every donation counts.

On UNESCO World Book Day -- April 23rd-- donation boxes will be located in four places:

  • Outside the cafeteria / lunchroom (opposite of the front office)

  • On the top floor on the JSR side (the languages hall)

  • Outside the library (next to the stairs on the middle floor)

  • Outside room 231 (top floor, NAISR wing)

Read to Grow requests that the books only be in French or English, so if you have any books in other languages, then please feel free to donate them to another organization. Your gently used books may be nonfiction, historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, or any other type of genre you wish to donate. We accept all of them!

Anybody may come to donate books to this amazing cause! It does not matter if you have been at NAISR for years or if you are a newcomer, we would appreciate it if you could help Read to Grow, so that these children can live better lives. Thank you for your support!

- Mattia, Grade 7 student

Also to celebrate World Book Day, the STUCO has initiated a dress up day and are inviting students to come to school dressed up as a book character on Tuesday, 23 April!
