Early Years Campus Weekly Update

Early Years Campus Weekly Update - Early Years Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Last week we introduced our new House Captains for the remainder of the academic year. It was great to see the excitement on their faces as they proudly received their badges, taking on their new roles of supporting and leading their peers across our campus. Being a House Captain is a wonderful opportunity for our young learners to demonstrate care, compassion, collaboration and leadership skills. They will be actively involved in supporting special events, fundraising activities, and Mrs. Mertz is eager to hear their own ideas to enhance our school community.

Enrichment For All and EYFS Sports Day

I trust you have now all received the information about Enrichment Week, which promises to be a week filled with fun, excitement, and a chance for our young learners to explore a diverse range of skills and new experiences. With activity in mind, we are eagerly anticipating our first Sports Day this Friday for our Nursery and Reception classes. Our children will be active participants, showcasing not only their gross motor skills but also the courage to ‘have a go’. We warmly invite EYFS parents and carers to join us for this special event on Friday, 7th March from 8:45 am to 10:30 am.

Parents who arrive earlier are welcomed to enjoy refreshments available on the rooftop starting at 8:20 am. We kindly request that those who arrive before 8:30 am wait on the rooftop to allow us to set up the equipment.

The school week from Monday to Friday is always bustling with activities, and this past weekend was no exception. Ms. Day and I had a busy yet enriching time visiting our sister school in Shanghai for the Regional NAE conference. It was a great opportunity to connect with colleagues, engage in crucial educational discussions, and learn from each other. Meanwhile, Ms. Mertz and Ms. Lewsey had an inspiring experience at their Forest School Training, acquiring new skills and knowledge as they begin their journey to becoming Forest School Leaders. These skills and knowledge will help us create exciting outdoor educational opportunities for our students here at NAIS Sai Kung.

New Experiences and International Women’s Day 2025

As we progress through the week and look ahead to new experiences for our students, I am also looking forward to International Women's Day 2025, on March 8th. Reflecting and being thankful for the important women in our lives who have inspired us to be more caring, giving, and courageous, I am reminded of Maya Angelou's words: "Having courage does not mean that we are unafraid. Having courage and showing courage mean we face our fears. We are able to say, 'I have fallen, but I will get up.'"

I wish you all a fantastic week ahead, filled with moments of courage and inspiration.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth Hanson
