Dear Parents,
I wanted to highlight an event from the past week that draws a spotlight on both our school, its dedicated team and Nord Anglia Education.
This weekend saw the return of our Year 6 Thailand Residential and with it the memories of challenges, opportunities and potential for everlasting friendships and shared moments between our staff and children.
To begin with, we must give credit to our Head of Year 6, Miss Leech, her amazing Year 6 Team including our teachers, TLAs and our brilliant Finance Team. Imagine, for a moment, coordinating the safe transport, accommodation, travel and enjoyment for over 180 people, with the majority being children aged 10 and 11. Then ensuring it aligns with the wider aspirations of Nord Anglia and the purposeful curriculum and values of our school.
At the same time, the Year 6 team are leading on curriculum and academic successes for our children in classes every day. This team are driving the enrichment opportunities that will make a difference way beyond the school gates. You may have seen the updates on social media from the trip and rest assured the vibrancy of the pictures will only ever be matched by the lived experiences of our children.
Children returning from school residentials often bring back so much more than a suitcase full of, usually, muddied or dirty clothes covered in sand, dirt, grass or pebbles. This is always a sign that the children have enjoyed themselves! What we are often more surprised by is the confidence, self-assurance, resilience and maturity which accompanies our children on their return.
We must be mindful to nurture these developmental milestones in our children at all ages, but particularly when we notice them so markedly. In doing so, we are helping them to bridge so much more than a residential or school trip. We are helping them to better understand how to thrive.
What’s Happening Across School?
P.E
The U11 Boys Basketball team put forth an incredible effort in the HKSSF tournament yesterday. Despite missing our Year 6 players, the Year 5 squad of seven showcased remarkable determination and bravery. Our team didn't let a height disadvantage deter them. Although we faced defeat in the elimination round and were knocked out of the tournament, the experience has been a valuable learning opportunity. The team is resolute in their commitment to return stronger than ever!
