Dear Parents,
Sports Day was a fantastic start to the week last week! Huge congratulations to all our competitors and to our overall house winners, Balmoral! Our PE department and all staff did a wonderful job of making the day so memorable. It was fantastic to see House spirit shine brightly as our students celebrated each other’s achievements.
Last week, we thoroughly enjoyed welcoming Year 6 students to our campus for their first transition event. Meeting our soon to be Year 7 cohort was a real highlight of the week and their enthusiasm for the next step in their school career was a joy to witness! We look forward to sharing more details regarding upcoming transition events soon.
We have a vibrant week ahead as the Science department prepares to celebrate Science Week, and our MFL department heads to their annual cookery workshop with our Y8 students! We are also very much looking forward to the whole school Pi Day event led by the Maths department on Friday!
Transition – Mrs. Reid
On Tuesday 4th and Thursday 6th March, we were delighted to welcome our Year 6 students for their first transition visit to the Kwun Tong campus. Making the move to Secondary is an exciting experience which comes with many emotions and lots of questions, so it was wonderful to welcome next year’s Year 7 students to our campus to give them their first taste of what life in Secondary will look like and to start answering those questions for them! The highlight of the Year 6 visit was a tour from our Year 10 and 12 Student Leaders, many of whom have been NAIS Hong Kong students since Primary and know exactly what it feels like to be making the transition to Secondary. Our Student Leaders loved showing Year 6 around the school and the younger students definitely enjoyed spending time with the older ones.
Sports Day Update – Ms. Wiltshire
On Monday 3rd March NAIS Hong Kong organised its Annual Sports Day. The event took place at Kowloon Bay Sports Ground. The four houses of the school gathered and cheered for their respective team members as the first event of the day took place – the 800m. While our athletes gave their all in pursuit of breaking school records and exceeding their personal bests, we were thrilled that many students also took up the challenge to test their own limits in a showcase of vigor and sportsmanship. The atmosphere was buzzing throughout the day, as each house exerted passion and collective teamwork in cheering for their house representatives. Such resounding waves of encouragement no doubt offered much needed motivation to all who were present that day on the track and field.
The events of the day came to an end with Mrs. Thorndike, Secondary Principal, declaring Balmoral House the overall winners.
Some notable achievements on the day:
Joshua T – 1.60m in the Yr 11 boy's High Jump
Noah R – 5m 10 in the Yr 11 boys Long Jump
Upcoming Fixtures
Monday 10th March – ISSFHK Track & Field Mini Meet
Wednesday 12th March – U16 Girls Badminton
Thursday 13th March – U20 Boys Badminton
Match Reports
U14 Boys
The U14 NAIS Hong Kong Knights badminton team triumphed over ICHK in a display of skill and determination. Jaxton secured the first singles victory with a dominant 21-12 performance, showcasing a wide array of shots. Tony and Kyson staged a remarkable comeback from 8 points down, winning their doubles match 22-20 with incredible resilience. Marcus completed the victory with another impressive comeback against a strong opponent. The Knights demonstrated exceptional teamwork and fighting spirit, securing a well-deserved win. Congratulations to the team on their outstanding performance! Well done, Knights!
U16 boys
The squad headed to GSIS on Thursday 6th March to play against GSIS and ISF in the ISSFHK Badminton league this week. The first match against GSIS started well with Hoi Hei winning his first singles match, however, a few tactical errors by Chris and Jamie saw a loss in the first doubles. Ruskin and Han Han stepped up for their singles matches winning both, successfully confirming our match win over GSIS. Our second match against ISF started again with Hoi Hei decisively winning over his opponent in the singles. Chris and Jamie, working through their errors from their first match, scored a win for themselves. All the matches were successfully won by the squad, scoring a 5 – 0 win over ISF. The team is currently ranked 1st place in their group with 2 more matches to go before the playoffs. Well done Knights!

Upcoming Pi Day – Mr. McIntosh
To celebrate Pi Day, Key Stage 3 classes will participate in an exciting interhouse maths competition, highlighting the fun and importance of mathematics. Students will compete in various challenges that test their problem-solving abilities, mathematical reasoning, and teamwork skills, all while engaging with the significance of Pi (π) in mathematics. Each house will work collaboratively to earn points, fostering a spirit of competition and camaraderie as they celebrate this mathematical constant on March 14th. This event aims to make maths enjoyable and encourage students to appreciate its real-world applications.

International Women’s Day – Jade Scott
Our student leadership teams and aspiring journalists have been working phenomenally hard on a special publication to celebrate International Women’s Day. The magazine showcases the achievements of women across various fields, including STEM, music, and literature. You can read the magazine here.
In our student-led celebration assembly, we will honour the successes of women in our community and beyond. The assembly will feature live music performances, quizzes, and inspiring speeches to celebrate the remarkable women in our lives.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their commitment to these initiatives, which empower voices and inspire action towards a more equitable future for all.
Looking Ahead
Best regards,
Fiona Thorndike
