Early Years Campus Weekly Update

Early Years Campus Weekly Update - Early Years Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

We are excited to share some wonderful highlights from last week and upcoming events at NAIS Sai Kung.

EYFS Sports Day

Last Friday, we had our annual EYFS Sports Day, where our Nursery and Reception classes joined forces for a fantastic celebration of physical skills, teamwork, and determination. The children had great fun, and it was heartwarming to see their joy and enthusiasm across the morning’s activities.

Over the past several weeks, Mrs. Mertz and Ms. Day have been introducing each event and focusing on the key skills required. Over the morning, the children displayed these key skills, from balancing and developing spatial awareness to hand-eye coordination, throwing with accuracy, and jumping skills. Teamwork was also a central theme as the children moved around each event competing in their House groups and collecting house points for each activity they completed.

Here are some highlights from the events:

  • The Floor is Lava: The children navigated a course without stepping on the floor, enhancing their balance and agility.
  • Obstacle Course: This event required the children to jump, balance, and complete the course while carrying a bag and wearing a hat, testing their coordination.
  • Ladder Race:< The children jumped with two feet or ran, trying to avoid stepping on the yellow lines, which helped improve their precision and agility.
  • Beanbag Throw: This event focused on throwing with skill and accuracy to earn house points, honing their hand-eye coordination.
  • Balance the Beanbag:The children tested their hand-eye coordination as they moved while balancing a beanbag, a fun and challenging activity.

It was wonderful to see all the children participating, eagerly cheered on and encouraged by their parents and carers. After completing all five events, the children enjoyed a short but well-deserved rest before taking part in the final sprint race. A big thank you to our parents and teachers who were great sports in participating in their own running race.

At the end of the morning, the children were so proud of their Sports Day medals, and we were incredibly proud of each of them for their determination and 'have a go' attitude. We want to say a big thank you to Mrs. Mertz and Ms. Day for organising such a fantastic Sports Day for our Nursery and Reception classes.
