Primary Campus Weekly Update

Primary Campus Weekly Update - Primary Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

The week ahead of us is sure to give our children opportunities to thrive and explore aspects of learning that will add to their self-esteem.

Today, I had the pleasure of joining our Key Stage 1 singing assembly, which served as a wonderful reminder of the value of coming together and embracing the shared messages within our school community. Mr. Ford, a talented piano player, led the children in understanding that while the start of a new year can be challenging, exciting, and ultimately rewarding, it’s important that we take time to enjoy our progress.

We learned the importance of being aware of these challenges and to know when to congratulate each other simply by saying ‘well done’ and supporting it with a reason. For our children this week, it has been well done on working hard, settling into new routines and rising to higher expectations. Although it’s only week 3 of our school term, the impact and importance of our collective school ‘voice’ in reinforcing our shared values does make a difference to our children.

In a mathematics class today, I could see how children were working collaboratively to solve problems. They took turns to be problem solvers, reflective thinkers and detectives in their lesson. These aspects of learning are structured to help children understand how different skills combine to support their ability to find solutions. We can all play a part and while our roles may change, our contribution is still valued.

The range of opportunities we offer at school give our children chances to thrive and build self-esteem, extending far beyond the classroom.

I look forward to seeing parents at our Curriculum Meetings in the coming weeks.

Take care,

Stephen Sharma
