Early Years Campus Weekly Update

Early Years Campus Weekly Update - Early Years Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

As we near the end of this remarkable academic year, we find ourselves filled with awe and admiration for the incredible growth and accomplishments of our extraordinary students. It's a time of reflection, preparation, and anticipation as we gear up for a series of events linked to the theme ‘Transitions’ as we begin to prepare our students for the next phase of their educational journey.

International Week and International Day
However, before we move on to transitions, we still have lots of exciting experiences for the children planned. A very special event of the year is our International Week, culminating in our International Day Celebration and Parade on the 7th June. This day promises to be a very special day as the children learn all about different cultures and traditions from around the world, made even more special as we will be learning all about countries and cultures from our very own parents of NAIS Sai Kung. A huge thank you to all the parents who have volunteered for the day, your participation is greatly appreciated.

Tasting Room - A firm favourite of the day is the ‘Tasting Room’ where children get to taste delicacies from all around the world. Ms. Lewsey sent out an email and form today for those parents who would like to send in some food which can be shared with the children. I’ll be making Welsh Cakes, which I used to love eating as a child (and still do) when growing up in Wales and I still enjoy making them today for my own children. I hope that many of you will also be able to send in a small plate of food from your own culture so we can have a wonderful array of foods for the children to try.

Collaborations with our sister Schools in Guangzhou and Beijing

This week sees more collaborations with our sister schools in Guangzhou and Beijing, as our students in Reception, experience joint, live lessons with the students in those schools. Thank you to Lu Laoshi for arranging these wonderful experiences for the students. From postcard writing, to live lessons and rounding off with our amazing singing competition.

It’s a busy week for our Reception students as they will also be visiting the Community Centre in Sai Kung, to perform ‘Snow White’ for the elderly community. We wish you all the best for your performances.

🚣‍♀️ A Dragon Boat Adventure with Ms. Lewsey! 🚣‍♂️

Last week, our very own Ms. Lewsey visited the Year 1 class to share her expertise in dragon boat racing. She ignited the children’s imaginations as they immersed themselves in a world of paddles, teamwork, and races. Together, they absorbed fascinating facts, watched captivating videos of Ms. Lewsey's own competitions, and even had a blast practising their own paddling techniques.

It was great to have Ms. Lewsey share her passion for Dragon Boating, and we can’t wait to hear all about her preparations and participation as she will be representing Hong Kong in the World Championships this September in Italy! I know we will all rally around to cheer her and the team on.

Finally, our Nursery children have been ‘out of this world’ this past week as they have explored ‘Space.’ From learning all about planets to creating their own Space Rocket role play area. The children have immersed themselves in the life of an astronaut, learning all about adventures beyond our planet earth, in a fun and imaginative way.

I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of May, but I look forward to the next four weeks, as we reflect and celebrate each child’s learning and growth across this year.

Wishing you all a fun-filled week ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth Hanson
