A Christmas Carol Trip Reflection
On Wednesday 20th November, I had the privilege to take 30 KS3 students to watch a performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Silver Rose Productions at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in Wan Chai.
I am delighted to share the wonderful experience our students had. The performance was truly outstanding, and I am proud to report that our students showcased the highest standards of behaviour throughout the event.
It was some students’ first time visiting the theatre and what an excellent show to begin with. The actors brought the characters to life in a way that really highlighted their depth and complexity. In particular, the portrayal of Scrooge was exceptional. His character development beautifully illustrated the true joys of Christmas and what the season represents.
It was heartwarming to see all of our students so engrossed in the performance, engaging fully with the story and its themes. I hope they took away valuable insights from this experience, especially our Year 8 students, as they prepare for their upcoming speaking assessments. The monologue they will perform from a character's perspective is an important aspect of their learning, and I encourage them to draw inspiration from the performance they witnessed.
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing how this experience enriches our students' understanding and creativity.
Kind regards,
Miss Pollard

Match Reports
U12 Boys ISSFHK Basketball Tuesday 19th November
In a tightly contested match, the U12 Boys Basketball team faced Kellett, ultimately falling short with a final score of 19-24. Despite the loss, the team showcased significant defensive improvement, frequently gaining possession in their half. Both sides struggled to capitalise on scoring chances. The Knights, trailing 12-13 at half-time, displayed enhanced passing and dribbling skills to briefly take the lead. However, missed rebound opportunities and turnovers proved costly as Kellett secured a narrow victory. A commendable effort from the team in a well-fought game. Great job!
U14 Boys ISSFHK Basketball Tuesday 19th November
Island School visited our Lam Tin campus on Tuesday for the U14 boy's fixture. A delayed start added to the increasing excitement amongst the players. A very even game with both teams playing with positivity and in the right spirit saw the score between the teams never widen more than 4 points. Improved play in and around the key since their previous game against VSA saw our teams constantly threaten the Island School basket. As the minutes and seconds disappeared it was always going to be close. At full time the score was 34-34. OVERTIME! Both teams battled hard and a final score of 39-40 saw Island School edge an absolute thriller. I know the boys were very disappointed, but with players absent through illness, they did very well and only lost really owing to fatigue late in the game. Well done all that played!
U14 Girls ISSFHK Basketball Tuesday 19th November
In a fiercely contested match against ISF, the U14 Girls basketball team displayed remarkable determination. They executed tight defense and strategic plays, resulting in a tense half-time score of just 4-2 in favour of the Knights. As the second half began, ISF gained momentum, breaking through our defense and drawing more fouls. Despite the mounting pressure, the girls refused to back down. With improved ball movement and assertive play, they created scoring opportunities and a few turnovers. Their resilience was evident throughout, but the game ultimately ended in a narrow defeat with a final score of 14-18.
U12 Girls ISSFHK Basketball Wednesday 20th November
CAIS came to Lam Tin on Wednesday for our team's 3rd match of the season. It was a tough game from the outset with CAIS taking an early lead. The girls worked tirelessly against a very strong defensive team and due to this hard work and effort in the first two quarters were extremely tired by the third. Coaches Josh and Davies were on the sidelines positively willing the girls to keep going and keep pushing. Unfortunately, the game ended in the girls first loss of the season. Understandably disappointed, but with lots to take forward, the team we are sure will come back stronger for their next match.
Looking Ahead
